EASTER WEEKEND

We had a great Easter weekend! We spent time in Price with my family, and enjoyed seeing my Auntie Coco who was visiting from Texas. We watched several movies, ate WAY too much food, and relaxed together :o)

On saturday we went to Goblin Valley...Clark had never been there and REALLY enjoyed it!

Emma had her 1st Easter this year, YAY! It was so fun to put together a little Easter basket for her, and also a surprise basket for Clark :o)

BEEN A WHILE....

So, it's been a while since I posted last :o)
Life's been busy! Okay- not really, I've just been lazy!

About us recently:

*Emma is now 9 months old....holy cow!!!!! (still can't believe it, if you can't tell)
She's grown so much, but still is a petite little thing. She started crawling at 8 months, and has now discovered how to climb stairs- it's now time to get the gate out, bah!

*We moved to Orem at the begining of the year! We have LOVED it here. We already had some friends living here, and we've made some awesome new friends as well. Our new ward is great, there's a lot of younger couples with kids. One of the best parts about moving to Orem is that our rent is pretty much half of what it used to be in SLC :o)

*We bought a new front loader washer and dryer with some of our tax return money, YIPEEE! Very much needed.

*Emma now has 2 teeth, and a few on the way. She's discovered how to bite too, ugh! lol.

*Now that Em is mobile, she follows me around everywhere I go...and when she's upset/tired she'll come crawling at me crying "mamamamama"

*Clark turned the big 25 on Feb 5th....we celebrated by going to dinner at Tepenyaki-Japanese Steak House and we had a bunch of friends over to eat his favorite peanut butter chocolate pie.

*We've had a lot of vistors come see us since we moved to Orem...friends and family, it's been great! (KEEP ON COMIN')

MAKING SOME EXTRA $

I decided to try a few new things for fun and to make a little extra $ while I stay home with Emma.

The 1st thing I've started doing is selling Avon(don't laugh at me)! In the past, I will admit, I've thought that Avon was just a company for old ladies and basically only sold expensive make-up: FALSE! Actually, Avon has a lot of really cool products, can be for all ages, and is pretty affordable. Yes, a majority of their products are cosmetics, but they also have a lot of other things you should check out on my website! They always have a lot of good deals going on, and a couple times a year they do a special where if you buy anything at all that is pink, then they donate ALL of the proceeds to breast cancer awareness!(really awesome)

UPDATES

I just wanted to kind do an update blog entry on what's been going on in our lifes since the last post.

We had a huge 50th birthday party for my Mom. My sisters and I put it on, and had so much fun!

My little sister Katy went to Pref with her boyfriend Brock. When they came over to our house for pics my mom, sister, and I came out all dressed up in our old formal dressed and got pictures taken too(we didn't want to be left out, hehehe)

I celebrated my 24th birthday on November 29th. We were in Price with my family and my moma made a yummy birthday dinner, and a delicious chocolate cake with strawberries.

We enjoyed spending thanksgiving with my family. It was nice to have my whole fam there....it was cute when uncle Garrett sat at the kid table with Logan :o)

Emma is now 6 months old...I can't believe how fast time has flown!!! She is in to EVERYTHING. She sits up on her own, and reeaches/grabs anything she get!

We have had both of these guys since they were tiny puppies...they have been our babies, but due to a new baby, tight finances, and moving- we feel it would be best to find them a new home where they will be happy!
We would prefer these two to go ito a new home TOGETHER since they are brothers/best friends, but if the circumstances feel right then we will consider separating them. We would like them to go to a home that has some sort of gated yard for them to play in, but also somewhere for them to be inside when it is cold out/other times.

**Both of these guys are up to date on their vaccines. They both also have Avid chips**

HALLOWEEN FUN AND MORE

This year for Halloween Emma and I went to Price to have fun with my family. Clark had clinicals ALL weekend, so he was stuck in SLC. Luckily his work work had a Halloween party the weekend before and we were able to go together to that.

Emma was so cute dressed up with her cousins Logan and Carson. We had a great time going to a "Trunk or Treat", and also did a wee bit of trick or treating. My Dad, his wife Patty, and my step brother Angelo came to visit from New Mexico and SURPRISED us with Mamaw (mamaw is what we call my grandma, my dad's mom)! It was SO great to see her, and for her to get to see little Emma for the first time. My Moma was so fun/festive and had a big Halloween soup dinner for everyone....it was YuMmY! :o)

5 MONTHS OLD

Emma is now 5 months old...we can't believe how fast the time has flown by!

YUMMY Emma absolutely LOVED eating in he highchair....well, THIS time at least :o) A couple weeks ago we put her in her highchair for the first time and tried feeding her rice cereal, she hated it! It was probably due to the fact that it was too thick and it wasn't flavored. Poor baby, we had no idea what we were doing- she is our test dummy after all. So, THIS time I mixed some rice cereal, water, and a little bit of vanilla pudding for flavor. She loved it and was so excited about it. I can definitely say this feeding time went better than the first time!

I LOVE TACOS AND CLARK

Lately I just LOVE tacos, I crave them! I have an amazing husband who the other day around 2:00am got out of bed and made me tacos...even though he had to wake up at 7:00am to go to a class! How SWEET is that??? :o)

I don't know why I love tacos right now so much, but, I just do!

STATE FAIR OR BUST

If you go to the state fair you will see things there that you've never seen before:
Have YOU ever seen balls that big before? Yeah, neither had we!

If you go to the state fair you'll eat things there that you've never eaten before just so you can tell everyone you've eaten something that they haven't...but, you'll REGRET eating it after a few bites:

EMMA'S FIRST HAIRCUT

My sister Natalie convinced me that it would be OKAY for Emma to get her hair cut. It was getting pretty wild, and it was time for a trim, but I was so nervous! Needless to say....I sucked it up and watched my little baby get her first haircut. Emma was good the whole time and was pretty happy until the very end when she got impatient and started throwing her head back :o)

RECENT HAPPENINGS

It's been a little while since I posted a blog, so I thought I'd update on our recent happenings....

*August 19Th was our 3 year Anniversary

My Mom and her boyfriend Bryan came to SLC and babysat Emma for us while we went to the Salt Lake Temple and out to dinner at Red Lobster...it was so great to get out and celebrate together, we've been through a lot together in the past 3 years!

*My little sister Katy was Homecoming Queen at Carbon High School. It was really exciting to go to Price and see her in the parade and crowned Homecoming Queen at the football game during Labor Day weekend.

*Emma was able to spend some time playing with her 2 cousins Logan and Carson at the end of August. She LOVES being with them and has fun watching them run all over the place.

*Clark enjoyed going fishing twice during the long Labor Day weekend we had. The first time he went fishing at a river, and the second time he went fishing at a Lake with our brother-in-law Austin and our cutie nephew Logan.

EMMA'S 5 FAVORITES

Emma keeps getting more and more fun! She's been smiling SO much lately, and is becoming quite a HAM! She's still sleeping through the night(hallelujah) and has been really talkative lately, too! My main goal as a Mommy right now is keeping this little gal entertained. And how do I do that....? well, with her 5 favorites:

#1 Her Swing...this has been a life-saver for me, she absolutely LOVES it!

#2 "Tubby" her Hippo- you should see how tight she holds on to this thing :o)

#3 The Bumbo(this is a new one, THANKS Auntie Nat for letting us barrow it)

#4 Going on walks! If Emma is fussy, a nice walk in her stroller really calms her.

#5 Mommy and Daddy...YAY! Of course we're part of her 5 favorites, a lot of the time we are a HUGE source of entertainment to her!

9 WEEKS OLD

Sweet little Emma is 9 weeks old today...I can't believe it! It's crazy how fast time has passed! Her colic has gotten a lot better, and we are so lucky that she sleeps all through the night(she has ever since she was 2 weeks old, yay)! She smiles SO much now too...especially in the mornings she is almost always happy and smiley!

4th of July/Emma's blessing/Clark's Family Visiting/Weekend in Price

We've been very busy lately with so much going on! First off we had Clark's family come out from New Jersey to meet Emma and visit for 2 weeks. We enjoyed spening time with them, and especially loved having his siblings, Brandon and Sarah, spend the night at our place a few nights while they were here.

We had a very nice 4th of July...we went to sugarhouse park with Clark's family and ate KFC(my family tradition) and watched the fireworks there. Emma wasn't sure what to think of the fireworks at first, but she got used to them quickly!

On the 5th of July we had Emma's Baby Blessing. It was such a special day for us, and Clark gave Emma a beautiful blessing! It was great to have so many friends and family there to share the day with us. After the blessing/sacrament meeting we had a picnic lunch at a park close by.

This past weekend Emma and I drove down to Price with my brother Garrett to spend time with family there. Clark had to work thur-sat, so he came down on sunday and spend the day with us.

WEEK IN PRICE WITH EMMA

First off I want to say THANKS to my sister Natalie for doing the last 2 posts for us while I've been out of comission!
We are SOOOOOOOOO excited to finally have our baby here! She looks nothing like what I thought she would, yet she is so perfect!
Emma and I were release from the hospital late saturday morning, and then we went right to Price to stay with my Mom so she and everyone there could help take care of us. Clark was able to stay there with us until monday morning- he had to be back for work in SLC.
While I was there resting up I was able to get a lot of cute pics of our sweet little baby who is growing and changing already...........

ADDING TO THE NURSERY

We're excited about the nursery we've created for the baby! Since her time to be born is coming right up and we don't know when exactly she'll come, I've been trying to have everything ready and in order ahead of time-then I wont have to scramble when she's actually here :o)

I'm VERY proud of this little storage/shelving unit that I found....not only because I got a really good deal on it, but because I put it together all by myself! Yes, it's true, I am just THAT good j/k! I think it was a combination of being so utterly bored, and also not having the patience to wait for Clark to have the time to put it together-so, I went to work! I've been able to organize most of her things into the little baskets that pull out, and I also love how there's shelving space for other things.

We rescued this rocking chair from the dumpster outside at our condo. It used to be a dark blackish-brown but we spray painted it and then I made a cover/cushion for it with some material that I found...making it was another good way for me to bite the time and escape boredom!

So, it's all pretty much come together. All we really need to get now is a changing table at some point and maybe a nice rug for the hard-wood floor!

BABY SHOWER

This past weekend my Mom and sister Natalie put on a baby shower for Baby Emma and I! It was a lot of fun, and I really enjoyed seeing and spending time with family and friends! We got SOOOO MUCH stuff for Emma....clothes, blankets, bibs, baby gear, ETC. It was like a huge Christmas with all the gifts!

FAT-NESS

Yes, I just keep getting bigger and bigger! The Doctor says that the weight I have gained is healthy, but still...I don't like getting fat!

I don't understand why anyone would want to be or let themselves get FAT on purpose!!! Being fat HURTS! No wonder so many large and incharge people are so lazy, sit around and do nothing, and ride around on their little jazzi-scooters! I feel for them right now! I personally mainly have the extra weight in my belly/around where the baby is, but still...with just that extra weight it's not easy doing things like walking around a grocery store, standing too long, or even trying to tie my shoes. I feel like the blueberry girl from Willy Wonka sometimes as I'm waddling around in all my fat glory!
I can't even imagine how people feel who have the weight spread all over their bodies...like have huge stomachs, legs, arms, etc! What are they thinking??? I mean, I understand that some people have medical conditions, but still...life could be so much better/happier if people were just healthier! I will tell you one thing for sure, I vow to never take for granted a good walk around the park or neighborhood again! I can't wait to get into shape after I have this baby...better shape than I was in before! I'm glad she's coming when there will be good weather and I can take her out for walks and just be active. I'm really excited that we have a gym and swimming pool here at our condo, too!

THE MAKING OF A NURSERY

I can't believe I'm in the 3rd trimester now, and in just a few months baby Emma will be joining our family! CRAZY! I keep getting bigger and bigger, ugh! It's becoming more and more of reality to us everyday...and it's especially become a huge reality these past few days as we've gotten her nursery all ready for her to use.
We were very excited to paint the room all by ourselves...we aren't exactly pros but we are proud of the outcome. We painting the room light pink, then did dark pink and yellow circles bordering the room. We matched the paint for the room exactly to the colors of really cute bedding that I found (with cute little birds on it) that was actually really affordable, BOO-YA!

Clark's parents bought us a crib and mattress for a gift, and we were so pumped to set it up when it arrived. I think the crib and bedding fit perfectly in the room we painted. The nursery still needs some things added, but we are so proud of it so far!

This is the first thing that Clark and I actually bought for baby Emma...her name is Averie, and she's a monster plushy made by one of my sister's friends. We think she's SO cute!

BABY'S FIRST GIFT

This week we were really excited to get our baby's first gift! Mamaw(Alicia's grandma on the Penry side) sent us some money to pick something out for the baby, and we were able to order a really nice Graco Carseat/carrier for her. When it came in the mail on thursday it was like christmas for us...we took it out of the box, and "played" with it- figured out how everything on it worked and so forth. We also took turns carrying it around and pretended like there was a baby in it, HA! Can you tell we're excited to be parents? teeehehehe

VISITORS

This past thursday my sister Natalie came up to SLC with her baby Carson for a Doctors appointment at Primary Childrens. I was able to go with them, then we went shopping and over to Auntie Judy's house to visit and eat dinner. Nat and Carson were able to spend the night at our place, and it was really exciting to finally have visitors. We hardly ever have people come over here...so it was a real treat! YAY!(This isn't the best pic, but it's the only one we took while they were here)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLARKY!!!

Thursday February 5th was Clark's 24th birthday...BOO YEAH! I can't believe how old he is :o) hehehe j/k
Because he was SO busy that day and just about everyday we didn't have a lot of time to celebrate. We did get to go to a late lunch that day at PF Changs-YUM-and Clark ate a whole great wall of chocolate cake (HUGEST piece of cake ever)!
The nest night when he came home from work I surprised him with Ice Cream Cupcake from Maggie Moo's. As far as gifts this year...all he really wanted was a new ipod, so he is saving all his b-day money to buy one from the apple store! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY!!!!

PREGGO PICS & UPDATE

I'm now in my 22nd week of pregnancy, BOO YEAH! It has been very exciting experiencing pregnancy and what comes with it...our baby girl is VERY active and I can feel her moving around and kicking so much now!
Yesterday we had another ultrasound at LDS hospital to check everthing on the baby like the heart, brain, bones, etc. She is perfect- very healthy and measuring just right. And, she is CRAZY ACTIVE!! The ultrasound tech said she has rarely seen a baby this active and move around so much! HA...leave it to us to have a little active/crazy baby girl! :o)

As for everthing else going on in our lives....Clark started back at the U for another semester. He's still working for the church in the evenings and he's very busy. I am just about done with my schooling at UCMT, and will probably finish up at the middle/end of february!

Investing in a Crib!

We are about to the point where we are going to invest in a crib for our sweet little baby girl on the way. Here are the 3 we like the best= each of them can convert into a toddler bed(which is a feature we really like) and we have tended to lean towards the lighter wood colors for a girl. None of them are very extravagant, but I feel whatever cute baby bedding that we add to the crib is what really can spice it up! So...what do you guys think????

IT'S A GIRL!!!!!

We are having a baby girl at the beginning of June. We are still both in shock because we both really thought it was a boy...and had a HUGE surprise when the ultrasound tech told us/pointed out that the baby is a girl!! aahaha
We were able to find out 2 days before christmas about the gender, and surprised our families with the news for christmas...they were all very surprised and excited as well! This will be Clark's parent's first grandbaby, and my families first grand-daughter (my sister Natalie has 2 little cutie-pie boys), SO, she's going to be very spoiled...and that's fine with us!!! :o)

OUR EXCITING NEWS

Hey all! First off we want to say happy thanksgiving to everyone...we were able to go spend the holiday with Clark's cousin Crystal, her husband and cute little twin boys, and also Grandma Simons. SOOO......for our exciting news, WE'RE HAVING A BABY, YAY! We are so exciting! I'm 14 weeks pregnant now, and the baby is due on June 2nd. We are hoping to find out the gender of the baby right before christmas so we'll be able to share the news with all our family together. What do you guys think....a BOY or a GIRL??????? We both are thinking it's a boy, but you never know! Wish us luck, I'm a paranoid pregnant woman!

NEW CONDO

We're moving, yay! We just signed a lease for a new condo that we will be renting, and are VERY excited. Its in the Marmalade Square area of Salt Lake City...which is basically the north-west part of capitol hill.It is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath condo. It is PERFECT for us...it has a new dishwasher and all new appliances. It also includes a washer and dryer, YAY, and it has a good sized backyard for our 2 little pootches to play in.
My favorite part of the condo: the little doggy-door it has that leads right out to the backyard. Clark's favorite part of the condo: the pool and hot-tub!
So, COME VISIT!!! The hot-tub is open all through the winter so we can enjoy that together, plus....Salt Lake City IS a good place to get your christmas shopping done *hint, hint*

UGH, CITY LIFE!

So, there are definitely ups and downs to living in the city...especially right downtown SLC where we live. I have loved having everything so close, and it seems like there are so many more opportunities. But, I'm getting REALLY sick of it! Why?-because not only are there a lot of scary people roaming around every inch of downtown, but with downtown/city life there is more crime! For instance: Monday morning when I went out to the car to go to work I discovered that both Clark's and also my car had been broken into. The passenger side windows in both cars had been completely smashed in, and everything in our cars had been gone through and was scattered everywhere. The craziest thing is nothing was even taken except my car insurance info and my car registration info..which are both things that only have my name and no personally info that they could use. I'm assuming that the jerks who did this were the identity theft types, who were looking for any personal info they could. The thing that made me the most angry was that the apartment parking lot where our cars where park was supposed to have surveillance cameras, but when we talked to the maintenance man about it he said they cameras didn't even work...gee, I sure feel safe living here!

I STARTED A NEW JOB!

Yay, this is Alicia, and I got a new job, I'm really excited and I've enjoyed my first 2 days there so far. I am working at a place called Comprehensive Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, and there are 3 orthopedic surgeons who work there along with a Nero-surgeon who comes in a couple days a week.
It is a temporary job until the end of january, which is perfect because I graduate in december and then it will take me a little while to get licensed at a Massage Therapist through out the end of december/early january. I'm doing receptionist work there, but it's not the crummy kind where you get treated like crap, and they pay really well.

UPDATE....
So, we are still here in Downtown Salt Lake City. We keep VERY busy, and are both going to school/working full time. Clark started up again for the fall semester at the University of Utah He is really enjoying his classes, and he is working hard to get good grades to get into med school. He is planning on becoming a M.D, want to go into Pediatrics, and is considering having child psychology as his major since when you are pre-med student you can have any major that you want. He is working full time in the evening for the church, and works in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.
I am still going to school at the UCMT(Utah College of Massage Therapy). I LOVE it, and will be graduating in December. I am planning on becoming a certified Massage Doula and Prenatal Massage Therapist after I graduate, and want to work with pregnant women and before, during, and after labor...along with doing some infant massage. I am working at the Avenues Pet Clinic, and REALLY looking forward to when I graduate and become a certified therapist so I don't have to work a crummy receptionist job anymore!
On August 19th it was our 2 year anniversary, YAY! We went to Lagoon, then Clark surprised me by taking me out to a really fancy dinner at the Roof Restaurant. We had a really fun time, and I will try and get some pictures of our fun day on here soon :o) Year #2 was definetly a better year for us then year #1. We have really grown up, learned to compromise, and love every minute with each other!
Other things that happened this summer: we went to numerous concerts, Clark's family came to vist in July, and we went to a Penry family reunion in August held in Colorado and a nice lodge.

Fun Weekend

Last weekend we were able to go down to Price to visit with friends and family. We loved being able to spend time with our two little nephews Logan and baby Carson. Logan LOOOOOOVES his Uncle Clark, and was very excited when the two of them went to the park together. When we go down to Price Clark pretty much just plays with his bud Logan the whole time we are there! Carson is getting blump...he has cute little fat rolls :o)

Scoot-Scoot-Boogy

So, about a year ago at this time Clark and I bought our 2 scooters that we love! We zoom all around the Salt Lake Valley on them, and would drive them all year round if it weren't for the snow/ice. It was really funny the other day...at work on my lunch time I came out and there were a group of old ladies standing near my scooter. They asked me a few questions and were so excited when I said they could take pics. They all took turns posing for pictures on my scooter, very cute!

Here are some things that have happened since I last posted:

We spent Easter with my family in Price. I dyed eggs with my nephew Logan, although he hogged them all. We always take Zeke & Miles with us because they love to play in my mom's backyard.

My sister Natalie had her 2nd baby boy at the end of April. Carson was born early, so he had to stay in the hospital for a while. Here I am visiting him in the NICU. He loves me already.

My other sister Katy went to her first Prom & I was there to pinch her date's cheek. Just kidding- that was my mom's job.

Clark finished another semester at the University of Utah. He also started a new job recently, which he likes.
